County Funding Will Expand Mental Health Services to Native American Population
Expanded mental health services will soon be coming to a Cerritos facility that specializes in treating Native American residents, thanks to $1 million in new funding approved this week by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
The American Indian Counseling Center has been providing Countywide mental health services to the Native American community across Los Angeles County since 1986.
The $1 million funding increase will allow the Counseling Center and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health to better meet the needs of the Native American community across the County that are underserved, as well as provide intensive services to those in need of that level of care.
Clients will include children, adults and seniors and services will include mental health treatment, medication support, peer support and mentoring, assistance with employment and housing and assistance with accessing preventive and remedial physical health care.
