Don Knabe. Working for Cerritos. Cerritos
Accomplishments |

Establishing Reward for Double Homicide in Cerritos
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors established a $10,000 reward, at the request of Supervisor Knabe, for information related to the double homicide of Joshua Shin and Matthew Morrison in the City of Cerritos.
New Funding for Park Projects
Supervisor Knabe dedicated $1.7 million in Proposition A Park funds to be used for various projects across the Fourth District. In Cerritos, a portion of the money will be used for the planting of 900 trees throughout the City’s arterial median, parkways and in several parks.
Synchronizing Traffic in Local Cities
A new Traffic Signal Synchronization Project has been approved for the cities of Bellflower, Cerritos, La Mirada, Long Beach, Norwalk and Whittier. The project will synchronize 35 traffic signals on Artesia Boulevard between Alameda Street and Valley View Avenue; 15 traffic signals on Central Avenue between El Segundo Boulevard and Victoria Street; and 36 traffic signals located on Whittier Boulevard between Paramount Boulevard and Valley Home Avenue. This project is part of the County’s ongoing program to enhance traffic flow and safety for drivers and pedestrians.
Expanding Mental Health Services to Native American Population
Expanded mental health services have come to a Cerritos facility that specializes in treating Native American residents, thanks to $1 million in new funding approved by the Board of Supervisors. The $1 million funding increase will allow the Counseling Center and the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health to better meet the needs of the Native American community across the County that are underserved, as well as provide intensive services to those in need of that level of care.
Providing Toy Program to Children of Teen Parents
The County of Los Angeles is now offering its successful, free Toy Loan Program found throughout the County at Tracy High School in Cerritos. By participating in the program, students in the Teen Parent Program will receive high school credits and their children can borrow one of over 100 available toys, then return the toy and check out others.
