County Funds Expansion Of Community Clinics |
|
|
Supervisor Don Knabe was
pleased to announce today that the Los Angeles County Board of
Supervisors unanimously approved a $15.57 million in funding to
expand community clinic capacity throughout the County. Seven
clinics in the Fourth District will receive almost $5 million for
expansion.
The total allocation to Fourth District clinics is $4,795,653, of
which $4,016,808 will go to expanding primary care services and
$778,845 will go to new and improved infrastructure at the clinics.
Included in the overall expansion are 12 new exam rooms. The
following is a list of the Fourth District community clinics that
will receive funding:
• Harbor Community Clinic in San Pedro
• Northeast Community Clinic in Wilmington
• Norwalk Regional Health Center in Norwalk
• Sacred Heart Family Health Clinic in Paramount
• The Children’s Clinic in Long Beach
• Westside Neighborhood Clinic in Long Beach
• Wilmington Community Clinic in Wilmington
“With all of the overcrowding issues we are facing throughout the
County, community clinics are more important than ever,” said
Supervisor Knabe. “By expanding clinic capacity, we are not only
allowing more residents to access low-cost healthcare services, but
we are alleviating strain on an emergency care system that is in a
very fragile state.”

Overhauling the Outdated Irrigation System at Los Amigos Golf Course More than $5.5 million will be invested in renovating the irrigation system at the County’s Los Amigos Golf Course in the City of Downey. The existing irrigation system at Los Amigos is more than 35 years old and has exhausted its useful life. The project consists of replacing the outdated irrigation system with a new fully-automated reclaimed water system. In addition, the golf course's two lakes, which currently require frequent refilling, will also be renovated, so they can be used as reservoirs for the new reclaimed water irrigation system
Continuing Anti-Gang Program
The Board of Supervisors has authorized a one-year agreement between the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and the City of Paramount for the continuance of a successful gang abatement program in the city. The Strategies Against Gang Environments (SAGE) Program decreases street gang violence and narcotics-related activities by utilizing civil injunctions and other procedures to enhance a city’s efforts to reduce gang violence and graffiti problems. |

Providing Paramount with Funds for Projects along L.A. River
Supervisor Knabe worked to secure $2.5 million in Proposition A funds to develop and expand Ralph A. Dills Park. The funds will assist the City in developing new open space near the existing park and renovating the preexisting facilities, and the expanded area of the park will extend the Dills Park Trail and provide a natural setting with a large meadow, picnic areas, restroom, and playground. The renovation of the existing parkland will convert this area into a nature walk that connects to the expansion area and provides improved accessibility on the Los Angeles River Trail. |
