Today, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted in favor of supporting the modification and expansion of the Historic Waterfront District in San Pedro for a five year period beginning January 1, 2013, at an annual cost to the County of $5,400.
“Los Angeles County is proud to be a partner in the task of revitalizing the downtown area through the San Pedro Business Improvement District,” said Supervisor Knabe. “The Waterfront District has a lot of history in the Port of Los Angeles and will provide an economic boost to the surrounding businesses and communities.”
The County’s .54% stake in the Historic Waterfront District will be entirely paid through Environmental Health Fees. The County’s participation will allow for the addition of a Pedestrian and Tourist Ambassador Service. This service will assist customers, pedestrians, tourists, tenants and residents by serving as a concierge, answering any questions, providing directions and referrals. The program will create and enhance pedestrian comfort and safety.
