Joseph Matthews
represents
Supervisor Knabe
in the cities of
Downey, La
Mirada, Norwalk,
East Whittier,
South Whittier
and Whittier. He
is responsible
for local field
office relations
with city
personnel,
constituents,
and local
businesses, and
is Supervisor
Knabe’s
representative
at various
community events
and meetings.
His field
offices are
located in the
L.A. County
Courthouses in
both Downey and
Norwalk.
Joseph was
raised in Long
Beach,
graduating from
Southern
California
Military
Academy, Woodrow
Wilson High
School, and Long
Beach City
College. Joseph
went on to
receive a
Bachelor’s
degree in
History from
California State
University
Dominquez Hills.
Currently, he is
pursuing a
Master's in
Public
Administration
at California
State University
Long Beach. A
former
elementary
school teacher
and emergency
medical
technician,
Joseph developed
the nationally
recognized
Junior Paramedic
Program© and has
graduated nearly
50,000
elementary
students
throughout Los
Angeles County.
Joseph
volunteers his
time to many
community
organizations.
He serves on the
Board of
Directors of the
Southern
California
Chapter of the
Scleroderma
Foundation, the
Southwest Area
Social Services
Funding
Authority or
S.A.S.S.F.A, and
on the Advisory
Boards for
Friends of Pio
Pico, Hispanic
Outreach
Taskforce or
H.O.T, and
Whittier Area
First Day
Coalition.
Joseph resides
in Santa Ana
with his wife
Lisa, where they
are raising
their young
children Karina,
Samuel, and
Jack. |
