Friends of the Fourth District:

The holiday season is a special time for all of us, filled with peace and generosity and the blessings brought by family and friends. We are fortunate to be part of a community and a nation rich in blessings and traditions that are highlighted during this time of year.

The true spirit of the holidays reflects a dedication to helping our neighbors, giving hope to those who may need help, and spreading peace and understanding throughout the world. We all share a responsibility to help, both through our government and through individual acts of compassion. In this season of giving, I hope you will look for opportunities to donate and volunteer where the need is greatest. By reaching out to someone in need, we make our community a more just and generous place.

As we think of the importance of volunteering in our communities, our thoughts also turn to the fearless and dedicated women and men of our military – each of them also a volunteer. Each of these courageous Americans have made the choice to not only defend our freedom, but to also defend the cause of peace around the globe. May God continue to bless our troops. May they each know of our heartfelt thanks for their service and of our hopes that they will safely return to their loved ones.

From Julie and I and our entire family, you have our best wishes for a safe and peaceful Holiday season and a prosperous New Year.
