Harbor College
Groundbreaking It’s great to be here at Harbor College. Of course, I was asked to come here because of my ability to wrestle alligators, but alas, Reggie is a "no show," so I am glad we’re on with this show… And, what an important day this is. Harbor College, through Propositions A and AA is reinventing itself. Everyone should take a new look at Harbor College because the best days are yet to come. The over $200 million investment being made here at Harbor will dramatically improve this College and the educational environment that is being provided to Harbor’s nearly 8,000 students. I am very proud to have Harbor College in the Fourth Supervisorial District. I am proud of the job each of you do in providing educational excellence with a personal touch. For over a half century, Los Angeles Harbor College has been an important resource to nearly 400,000 South Bay residents. Today, your leadership goes to the next level with the groundbreaking for Harbor College’s New Technology Building. As the only Californian appointed to the President's Homeland Security Advisory Council, I am especially impressed that Harbor College is the only college in Los Angeles that is authorized to offer training for the TSA’s Flight Crew Program and that your Administration of Justice Program also offers Homeland Security training for many of the agencies that protect some of our most important assets in Los Angeles County, like the Ports and Airport—both in my District. When complete, this new Technology Building will be a great resource for the people of the South Bay. Thank you. ### |
