Real Jobs Partnership
Graduation
I am absolutely thrilled to be here today to join in the celebration
Energy Pathways Program and these 31 outstanding individuals who are
graduating.
It was almost 11 months ago to the day that I stood just a few steps
from here with many of you in this room today to announce the
beginning of this partnership.
I could not be happier with the positive results of this program.
I would like to thank Governor Schwarzenegger in particular, for
recognizing the great potential of this project, and I’m sure he is
as pleased as I am that we are seeing an effective return on the
State’s investment in funding this program.
What I love about the Pathways program is that this is a true
collaborative partnership that is changing lives for the better.
For example – many of the graduates here today wrote down their
thoughts recently on the impact this program has had on their lives.
I’m not going to reveal any names, but I wanted what some of them
had to say, because it speaks to heart of this program.
One person said, “This program has not only given me the opportunity
for a career, but also prepared me for it with knowledge and the
skills necessary to succeed.”
Someone said, “This will allow me to accomplish everything I desire
in life and more. God has answered my prayer as well as given me
hope.”
Another said, “Before the Pathways program, I was working long days
with no real end in sight. After being in the program I have gained
a sense of direction and there is now a bright light at the end of
the tunnel.”
Its statements like these that make me so proud to be here and to be
a part of this program.
We are transforming lives here.
I want to do all I can to help this program continue and hopefully
grow to provide more opportunities in many other fields of
employment where there is a need for skilled workers and upward
mobility.
I would like to offer my congratulations to all of the outstanding
graduates, for your hard work and determination to get where you are
now. You are role models and a personal inspiration to me.
I would also like to congratulate all of the partners who helped
make this program a tremendous success and a national model.
