Knabe Offers Reward To Help Catch Park Bench Thieves

Supervisor Don Knabe has matched a $1,000 reward that the City of Diamond Bar is offering for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for the theft of two dedicated park benches.

City officials hope that the now $2,000 reward will lead detectives from the Walnut/Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station to the person(s) who took the two six-foot steel benches bearing memorial plaques for former Diamond Bar Councilmember Bob Zirbes and former City employee Steve Tamaya.

It is believed the benches, previously located on the Sycamore Canyon Park trailhead near Diamond Bar Boulevard, were taken sometime between late Friday, February 6 and early Saturday, February 7. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Preston Harris at (909) 595-2264. The identity of all callers will remain confidential.
